Glossary
8th Grade Career Day Career exploration classes held annually at LMC.  Contact Berrien County Intermediate School District.

CTE Career and Technical Education is the component of the Career Preparation System designed to provide knowledge and skill leading to initial employment and/or advanced postsecondary education.  CTE is currently composed of 41instructional  programs.

Career Assessment Includes formal and informal measures. Inventories that assist learners in understanding their career interests, aptitudes, and abilities.

Career Awareness Introduces students to the broad range of career opportunities.

Career Development A complex process of acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for an individual to make work a meaningful, productive, and satisfying part of life.

Career Exploration Focuses on learning about the characteristics of various career options through investigation, including direct and hands-on experiences.

Career Pathways Broad groupings of careers that share similar characteristics and whose employment requirements call for many common interests, strengths and competencies.

Co-op Paid work experiences that continue to develop their vocational and employability skills in a particular career path.  Co-op occurs during the school day and must be directly related to the vocational courses the student is taking.
