Welcome to Learning With Handhelds-Berrien County Students Unplugged. This exciting project will use Palm™ handheld technology to improve the educational experience of the seventh graders in our public schools.

The Learning With Handhelds project was initiated by Michigan Speaker of the House Rick Johnson as a springboard for developing successful examples of how one-to-one technology can be used by students and teachers.

Berrien County is extremely pleased to have been awarded $1.1 million and designated as one of five Demonstration Sites. We believe that when students have one-to-one access to technology the result will be a more enriching learning experience. This site will serve to provide information regarding the successes of our project to those interested in how handheld computers can be used in the classroom as well as a resource to the students and teachers who are involved in the project. For more information contact Jim Bembenek, Director of Instructional Technology, Berrien County Intermediate School District.
