This project was created as an assignment in Planning Interactive Curriculum Connections, an online class offered by Berrien RESA and taught by Janine Lim.
Topic: Animal Research
Possible dates: Spring
Learner Outcomes: Learners will cerate a presentation on an animal of their choice and share it with students from other schools. This presentation will be either a PowerPoint presentation or a digital comic strip.
Methods and Activities: Students choose an animal they are interested in. They then create eight questions about that animal. They then do research to answer the questions. They can explore the answers by watching streaming video, books from our library and from using research sites such as yahooligans and ask jeeves for kids. Once the information is gathered the students will create either a PowerPoint presentation or create a comic strip about the animal.
Materials: Streaming Video, research websites, pencil/paper, library books
Time: The actual conference will take about 45 minutes. The research leading up to the conference will take between three to four weeks.
Notes: No hand outs will be necessary for us to send to another class. All final projects created by the students will be posted to our website. The other class will simply need an internet connection to share the material.
Students Will Do: Students will do the research and learn about the animals. They will then explore how to present information in a digital format and how to present their presentation to an audience.
Teachers will do: Assist students with research, provide resources and guidance throughout the entire process. Moderate the conference. If a video conference is not possible students could write letters back and forth and see each others work via our schools website.
