SouthwestNet

SouthwestNet began in 1995 as a project of the Regional Educational Materials Center 11 (REMC XI) and the Berrien Regional Education Service Agency. This initiative was part of Western Michigan University’s project SMILE with initial funding from Ameritech. SouthwestNet was among the first organizations in Michigan to provide Internet services to schools.

Use of SouthwestNet is intended to be in support of education and research. Users have access to the Internet to facilitate diversity and personal growth in technology, information gathering skills, and communication skills related to educational endeavors.

SouthwestNet is available to member schools in REMC XI. All uses must agree to SouthwestNet Acceptable Use Rules and complete and sign a membership application. These documents are available for download on this page in the Resources box.

To find email address of districts that are not SouthwestNet members, it is necessary to visit the individual district’s web site.
