Department Information

The staff of the Berrien RESA Data Processing Center provides a variety of services. Including the planning, developing, implementing, training, and supporting a districtwide Student Accounting System and the Business System.

The primary responsibilities of the Data Processing Center include troubleshooting and assisting the Administration Center, Blossomland Learning Center, and Lighthouse Education Center with their computer related technology. In addition, the Data Processing Center coordinates all computer-related purchases for these buildings, installs the systems and software, and performs minor services, upgrades, and part replacements on computer equipment and printers. Network services are also provided by the Data Processing Center

The Data Processing center also provides services for the other 16 public school districts, 30 private / parochial schools and two public school academies.

The Data Processing Center is responsible for writing almost all of the programs that are used by the RESA. There are many different programs that involve many different tasks. There are Student Accounting System programs which are used to produce reports containing student information, class schedules, class lists, teacher's schedules, processing MEAP information and scanning / processing surveyed information. The Business System programs involve items like creating inventory reports, creating vendor reports, processing payroll and purchase order reports.

The Data Processing Center is also responsible for submitting Student SRSD Information to the Michigan Educational Information System. Each school must submit the correct student information to the RESA Data Processing Center. The corrected data from all of the schools is then merged into one file and sent to the Michigan Department of Education. State funding for schools is based on SRSD information. The data will be managed in a secure site in the MEIS Warehouse allowing the state to keep track of each student's complete educational experience.
