What is ITT?

The Berrien Country Intermediate School District through its Instructional Technology Team (ITT) is available to help you use technology effectively. Our ITT assists schools in

• Planning for Technology
  We can work with you to assist you in your effort to plan for the effective use of technology within your curriculum. We can also assist in the development of your technology plan or the evaluation and updating of an existing plan.
  
• Technology Awareness
  It is difficult to use technology if you are not aware of the technology and software available to educators. Our staff makes every attempt to stay up-to-date on the newest and best educational technology and software. We are always available to share this knowledge with you through seminars, newsletters, or site visits.
  
• Use of Technology
  Technology cannot be effective unless your staff knows how to use it. We offer classes on computer operating systems, the Internet, productivity software (word processing, spreadsheet, database), and software appropriate for the classroom. For a small fee, you can enroll in any of the classes we currently offer. You can view and register for these classes at our Professional Development Catalog. In addition to classes offered at the BCISD, arrangements can be made to offer on-site training, if your building has the facilities and software.
  
• Technology Integration
  Technology is only a tool. If technology use is not connected to the curriculum to improve student learning, it will not be effective. Our ITT, along with BCISD subject area consultants, can help your staff connect technology to your curriculum. We can also model the integration of technology in the classroom. In addition, we can evaluate your current technology use and assist in developing ways to improve student learning through technology integration in classroom instruction.

Distance Learning

• Janine Lim, Instructional Technology Consultant
• Janine works with schools to effectively use the video conferencing equipment and other web-based distance learning applications. She is also involved in technology staff development.

Technology Integration

• Kevin leads workshops on the integration of technology into the curriculum, visiting classrooms to assist or model the integration of technology in the classroom, and staying up-to-date on technology resources.
